The table of Jesus is neither a table of lacking nor of excess. Its extravagance is only in its abundant enough-ness. We come not to indulge our wild desires, but to be filled according to what God knows we need.

We do not walk away from the Lord’s table holding our guts, in pain caused by our over-indulgence! Our appetites are not in charge at this table! Rather, we come away satisfied, knowing that God has once again provided us with a table of life!
